Permanent resident marriage

Hi, I am a permanent resident in United states and my girl friend was married and was divorced but her status is still illegal in this country? Can I marry her and help her with the status to get the permanent resident while she is in US and if so then can she travel to her country and come back whenever she want to?

You can apply for her GC- but as you are a permanent resident she will probably have an average as a 5 year wait. During this time her status will NOT be protected as opposed to spouses of citizens whose status IS protected during this time. If your then wife does leave during this time then the appropriate ban from the US will kick in upon her departure. How far away are you from citizenship?

Oh- you say she is illegal? Illegal as in she entered the US illegally? or she entered the US on a visa which has now expired? Hopefully its the latter!!

Assuming she was legally inspected when she first entered the country, she can adjust her status after you obtain US citizenship.
