Permanent resident card (GC)not received

My passport was stamped saying processed for I-551 and was told that I will receive my green card with in 6 months. Now after 7 mths when I checked up with the Local office they tell me that the officer who approved my case did not update it in the system and so they will not issue the green card till my approval shows up in the system. My file has again gone back to the Eastern (Vermont) Office.
Has any one faced such situation?

I am facing the same situation as yours. I went to an interview on April 26, 2005, and wait until today Feb 28, 2006, i haven't receieved the physical green card too. The scary thing is that, the system haven't updated the approval. I called in the INS, and they told me that my case haven't approve, i told that i did got the approval I-551 stamp. But they said the info they have in the computer is "still on processing" I am worry too, but don't know what to do. The officer collect all my detail info and said he will help me to track the case again. He asked me to wait for another 30 days
