Permanent residency in US and Canada

I am in the US and in the process of getting an GC (Applied I485 and so far have received EAD). I had applied for Canada immigration as a backup and a couple of days back I received the request for the passports for stamping.

My question is : How can I keep Canada Immigration valid without giving up US GC? Is it possible to keep permanent residency for both the countries?

Any help is appreciated.
 
In the long run (6 months or more), you can only be a permanent resident of one country at any given time. Decide where you want to live and achieve peace of mind :)
