Guys look at the PERM Statistics

http://www.foreignlaborcert.doleta.gov/pdf/OFLC_Report_v11_8-23-07.pdf

This report just confirms the theory that retrogression is gonna be gone for good!

Only 80K PERM (GC Labor) appplications approved in Oct 05 - Sep 06 (FY06)....WHAT A LOW NUMBER....and close to 50% is from retrogressed countries (India/China/Philipines/Mexico)....leaving the ROW demand being at just about 40k or less...

And if we assume that about 1 extra dependent for each application....that would make 485 demand of 80k - MAX for ROW...

Funny thing, they have a quota of 100K (out of 140K)....that means the leftovers in each fiscal year will be given to retrogressed countries....Well, it only means one thing EB dates may be current soon....or at least the in the last two quarters of any fiscal year!

What about back log center LC approvals? which is close to 300k+ ??? plus add dependents to it... :)

Agreed, but many LC applicants (cases that went to backlog centers) also filed a back up application in PERM. The numbers are indeed low owing to the limited number of H-1Bs admitted in the country from 2004 onwards. I remember sometime in 2002 (opr 2003) as many as 167,000 H-1B visas were issued.
