Period of Stay Permitted in US after Last Working Date with Employer

Hi all,

I am H1B visa holder, its valid for another 2 years. My husband has a H4 visa and will be travelling to US during december 2001.
My last working day with my employer is during first week of Jan 2002. I get paid by my employer till the last working date.

My question is, Legally, how long can I stay in the US after my Last working day with my employer. My plan is to leave US after the number of days I am permitted to stay as per law and not continue with any other job here.

Can anyone tell me how long I am permitted to stay??
