Hello All,
My family and I got the greencard back in 2004 and were deciding to immigrate to the US, at that time i was just out of highschool and was intending to go to college in the US when we immigrate, however right before our immigration my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer (i have all the necessary documents to prove that) and since we don't have health insurance in the US while we do in our home country, we've decided to stay in our home country for the time being until my dad is cured , of coarse because of that i had to go to medical school in my home country as well , but i really want to go and do my residency in the US and continue to live there, for that purpose, and although my dad was sick, we managed to go into the US once a year as not to lose the GC (as i mentioned my plans are to do residency and settle there), during the past year i had some extra exams between terms that left me with no vacations at all and it has been 15 months now since we've last visited
bottom line I'm freaking out, i'm thinking i must have lost my GC after all what we've been through to keep it, and i dont know what to do, should we apply for an immigrant visa? wut if it's rejected? do we have enough of a reason to take it?..or should we try to just fly to the US and say we were out for less than a year (can they really tell how long we've been out?)
I really couldnt feel more worried at the moment so please HELP =.(
p.s. my dad is now cured and just do follow up checking every 6 months, but it's medical school that's left with no vacations in the past year (it's just that year that doesnt have any vacations, i'll continue to visit yearly until i'm done with school)
