Pending I 485, EAD and AP renewal - return to India

I am on EB3(PD 2004), and have been renewing my ead and AP since 3 years now. My current EAD and AP are valid till June 08.
We plan to relocate to India in December 07. I understand that after the expiry of AP, I will not be able to re-enter into United States. Having said this, I have got a question, if I apply for EAD and Ap renewal in December before I leave to India, and give the correspondence address of one of my friends in United States, and assuming they gets renewed till some date in '09, and my friend mails these to me to India, if I wish to travel to US again after June 08, and sometime before the expiry of the new AP, will I be able to do that? Or is it that we have to be in United States, when AP/EAD get approved ?

particularly for AP, you have to be in the US and travel after the AP is approved.
