Hi,

I recevied a new passport from indian embassy as my old passport was just about to expire.

I have a pending I-485 status. Do I need to inform INS about my new passport? Please share your experience. Thanks,
bhola

does new passport has new passport #? If yes I would send copy to uscis office where 485 is pending.

There is no need to do so, and it is exceptionally unlikely to end up anywhere other than the trash.
I hope uscis dosent get a shock once they see a new passport copy in documents sent for a new application. :) I would send a copy of new pp even if they havent asked for it.

Mine and my son's passports are new. We han't done anything. We keep sending copies of new pp for the EAD and APs. No problems yet all.

Anyways, why do you think that they care about your pp.

i know they dont care but I do care that I dont have any trouble later because I didn't send new pp copies. uscis is very notorious about giving "unplesant surprises" to people.

According to that logic, you should send them copies of your Christmas cards just in case. ;)

Seriously, just send them what they ask for. They don't ask for updated passport information.

I would have send them x-mas cards if everybody working there was a Christan :)

anyway, I've one question:

My Indian passport expires sometime soon. I plan to renew it in India. Once I get new pp it wont have my expired us visa. Is it ok to just show my AP at airport/airlines at port of departure in India and POE in US?
