BTW, how should I determine if this is the right time to start bugging USCIS for info? My case has been filed last Dec, 2005 so, it has been 6 months already, and I've done my FP (Code 3) early May, 2006.

You should also try calling the customer service number. This information is not shared online. I did not have any interview before approval.
