PCee and Rupnet discussion and observations

PCee has his website and has 89 approvals during the
April 1 - May 15 for CSC and
Rupnet has 29 approvals only.

I think that PCee\'s site is much better maintained and has better data
compared to Rupnet.

I request other people also to add to this discussions their viewpoints also.
 
My Frank Opinion with no offence to either party

Rupnet is a attractive looking site which obviusly greaty-k is developing with commercial intrests in mind....he will 99% stop maintaining it, if he fails at attracting enough people to visit it in time.

PCee has done it with no personal gain in mind and ofcourse even he will have to move in time,but he may choose to hand it over to somebody who has the flair for it and dedicate the time for it.

if rupnet really is selfless ..he should go ahead and start taking data from the site and entering it into his system just the way PCee spends time finding positings and carefully rentering it into his system..instead of waiting for people to post it to his site....

This is the primary reason why there is more data on PCee\'s site compared to Rupnet.

No doubt Rupnet has done a good job...but his intentions are not what he says they are ( not that i care..i will be really happy if he succeeds in making it a popular site.)

Once people get approved, it is much easier to post on immigrationportal.com

than on rupnet.com. Then pcee takes over and updates his spreadsheet.

I agree with all of you...

I always thought that any data collection would only be good if the task of collection was the responsibility of one person or a group of persons. If it is dependent on folks themselves to update their record its not going to happen as well as if somebody was responsible to collect the data. We all know that PCee spends hours collecting and even validating the data before he updates his database. His database would be up-to-date as long as he has the desire to continue to do it. I think PCee\'s spreadsheets provide enough ways of looking at the data. On top of that his data is top notch which is the most important thing.
 
On the other hand, Rupnet\'s database is totally dependant on folks updating their approvals of their own volition. Folks will be very interested in posting their details and tracking their progress while their case is still pending. But, after their approval comes through, most people lose interest and move on. The data collection philosophy of rupnet is wrong. They seem to be a website with commercial interests, so it is surprising that they are depending on somebody else to maintain their data. The only way rupnet can come anywhere close to PCee\'s database is if they themselves took the responsibility of using approval postings on this board to update their database. Greaty-k\'s pleas to update the database will go unheeded by most folks. Rupnet may be more flexible and they may have the ability to improve and/or add enhancements quickly but the site is only as good as the data it provides. And the data it provides is not comparable to PCee\'s site. Providing a site with features is the easy part. Painstakingly collecting data day in and day out is incredibly more difficult. My 2 cents.
 
Both of them have done an excellent job..........

But i would say that pcee\'s site is more easy to use and has up to date information when compared to rupnet...

Compiling the huge amount of datas posted here on regular basis is a painfull job and I appreciate pcee for this.

Rupnet site is technologically superior, but lacks the accurate data and therefore

not very useful.

Pcee on the other hand has a simple spreadsheet format with much better data, and therefore wins hands on.
Pcee works hard to maintain the data and rupnet focusses on features/technical finesse.
What matters more? Let the I485 waiter\'s decide.

I feel that PCee Spreadsheet and tracker is very useful

and very interesting to follow. Thanks a lot to PCee for spending
his valuable time to track data and maintaining spreadsheet which
is very useful to know what is going on with GC Process. At the same
time i believe that immigrationportal.com site is very useful than
Rupnet site though he did great job. we will learn lot of interesting
stuff on immigrationportal site.

In my above message I did not give my observations but rather tried to give only numbers.

I feel that PCee is very dedicated and people should help him as much as they can.

This is one of the reasons for my starting the recent approvals thread.

Pcee has found this method of the recent approvals thread a good source of data and wants people to help him maintain and collect data.

Please do support him in his work.

Greaty-k (rupnet) has done a good job also and I guess that people would rather post messages in free format here on the board compared to rupnet site. I had a feeling earlier that this would happen but rather than voice my opinion I felt that it would be better to let time tell its story and numbers would speak more than words.

But I feel that once PCee gets his approval then he will also stop maintaining his spread sheet. No I am not trying to criticize PCee and his work but this is normal. Mighty Count, Ciba, Dee Rod, Myself included were quite active on this website and busy helping people and spending many many hours per week. But once we got approved we spend less and less time as the days go by.

This is perfectly normal and I fully expect PCee to do the same. Hence if after PCee\'s approval if no one does similar work like PCee then I guess people would have to use websites like Rupnet etc etc. I think that there is one more site like Rupnet.

Bottom Line - I love PCee and his site and still visit it from time to time. I visit it looking for PCee\'s approval so that I can congratulate him on his success.

I feel that his approval is around the corner and hope that he gets his approval soon. He has spent a lot of time and effort not only gathering data but also helping people with their questions and responding to many many people.

I think PCee has done a wonderful job coming up with the idea and putting it to work.

However, people are being un-fair to greaty-k. It is clear that he has commercial intentions. But that does not make his site/service bad. We all use yahoo everyday and it makes money inserting ads.. I am OK with that! In fact, I think in order for the tracking effort to sustain in the long term, it is necessary that there be some revenue...classic capitalism.

Volunteer efforts are great but we can only hope that they will last. so my 2cents is that greaty-k should be encouraged too.
 
PCee done excelent job for long time onwards

PCee is the first person got the idea to implement approval database and still maintain his site with latest data every week.

Looking at her aggressive advertising on this board, it is clear that she is definitely suffering from some attention deficiency syndrome. Normal person would not solicit to the level she is going. There are open issues with this person.
Now, how she will make money out of this site is a question.
1. Tell me who does not want to make money?
2. She will loose interest in this site, after getting her approval. rsrgc, who worked so hard on this site, which is commendable has to take care of his other priorities. Other issues will take over in her life as well and in that case nobody would be there to maintain the site, and there would be many other questions like where to host the such site, etc.
3. Why so much solicitation on this site, to the extent which annoys other readers?
4. To answer your question, there are number of ways
 a) Sell this site once it generates enough traffic and earns goodwill.
 b) Sell annoying advertising (banners) on this site.
 c) Sell the data to people who might be interested in that like lawyers.

Let me open up another discussion, why she should continue with this free service where she has to pay the domain name, site hosting and the data transfer, etc. Who is going to finance those expenses?
Can someone explain this ? Any takers? rsrgc, soi, big gurus ...

I have serious doubts annoyher intentions. And surely, this person requires some kind of medical treatment, since I don\'t rule out the possibility of having this as that DOSA guy who created riots on this board.

Both are doing great job. But thinking ahead we need to find someone who can takeover

Since Pcee\'s approval is in the offing, we should not expect him/her to spend as much time here as at present. Similarly, greaty-k (So far, I did not find anything wrong with his/her intentions -- after all this is a land of opps, so if someone can think of a way of making money by tracking the approvals of different stages, hey whats wrong. After all, Tripod must be getting some revenue from all the hits on PCee\'s site, too) is doing a wonderful job, even though the data collection model is less involving and hence less informative than PCee\'s.

So if we can find some volunteers to take over from either or both (a mixture of both would be the best for us) of them and are as much interested as PCee in collecting and streamlining data from this site that would be the best for the user community.

Any volunteers?

1. I have my parent website(http://www.rupnet.com), for more than 2 years. I get revenue thru ads to pay for my expenses for the site, my parent site covers all of them.
And second if someone wants to make money he/she will buy domain with relevant name, not like rupnet.com. Which has no meaning, and not even easy to remember. I\'m sorry to say \'shabanam\' all your points are not valid for rupnet.com.

2. I\'m not against PCee, I certainly appreciate his work, and could understand how much hard work he did. Thats the reason I made the site, so that minimal manual work and , easy to maintain.And I\'m willing to work with anyone. Consider this site as transition till PCee get his approvals.

So question is why I\'m doing it so aggressively :

a. I \'m one of the filer, and a computer professional , who wants things to be easy and dynamic. I came to the board 3 months ago and realized that Immigration portal is great place and mr.Rajiv Khanna has done tremendous job for us, so I thought, I should also contribute to the portal for my fellow citizens, as we are all in the same boat.

b. I spent days and night programming with the help of people on the board. And response I got from filers was overwhelming, which made me to do more. Expect couple of you people, and I cannot succeed without you people also.

c. So what After my approval, ok --- Easy Tracker. at http://www.rupnet.com/immigration is a very very low maintenance site. Even now I only spend 10- 15 mins a day (which includes the time I planned to update approvals manually incase people who don\'t have their data)
My approval may be coming in 10-30 days, . Think about it guys, comeon , why would I make a site in April 2002 when my approvals is coming in month\'s time. Why would I put so much time ?

I get -- Satisfaction,it made my wait easy , appreciation of filers, Growing consolation with every approval and at last more people see my hobby Astrology & Palm Reading.

My man is Pcee.

I likes Pcee because he did all the work for csc filers.He is the man with lot of kindness and show his strength since filing of his 485.Even though he filed in June and got receipts in september.Lot of his subsequent files like I got approval because of his kind wishes. If Yu ask me to give My vote, I will vote always for Pcee because of his kindness,support,wishes.I likes the workof RSRGC,Deerod who will guide the 485 waiters.

greaty-k (rupnet) has clearly indicated that his intentions are commercial. I have no problem with this. I also visit Yahoo.com which is purely commercial. I visit yahoo for news/maps/driving directions/weather/chat /shopping. So I do not find anything wrong with rupnet\'s commercial intentions. But I feel that the overall response at Rupnet will be less compared to the approach that PCee has got - PCee reads all messages and collects data - This is the basic reason why PCee\'s site is much much much better than any other.
 
PCee\'s site is really great!!!

I have been going through Pcee\'s site everyday for more than 3 months and I really appreciate his work. The easy link to immigrationportal.com gives valid reasons for approval/RFE unlike the just databank in rupnet.com. The discussions within the same group mailers will definitely make us sail in the same boat!
PCee, rsrgc, milli and others make immigration portal also very active all the time. Thanks to all.

Ofcourse, the features in rupnet.com is superb, but the colorcoding with PCee\'s site is better in white background.
