PCC through SF

SF takes more than a month to get PCC. You are required to submit your passport in original for the PCC. My question is:

1. With the situation in US as it is for immigrants, I am hesitant to submit my passport. If I do submit my passport, I will only have I-94 to show as my proof for residence here and no passport/visa.

What precautions do I need to take before submitting my original passport?

Thanks

Arun Mehta: Make a copy of your passport, I-94 ...

and carry the receipt that the Indian Consulate gives you. That should suffice I guess. The Consulate needs only a copy of the Approved Visa petition so you\'ll still have the original I-797 Approval Notice with you.

PCC at SF

I applied for the PCC at SF yesterday...YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUBMIT YOUR PASSPORT..

Just show them the passport and then give them photocopies of it...They will give you a receipt telling you to come back after 35 days to get ur PCC ...It is at that time that you have to take your passport cause my guess is the PCC is a stamp on your passport...

Good News PCC from SF

I applied for PCC in SF Indian consulate on Dec 7. I have to leave on 11 Jan for CP interview in Mumbai. I spoke to SF consulate. Then they told me to fax a letter saying that I need PCC by 11 Jan, which I did yesterday. Today they called me and told to collect PCC on Jan 8.

Hope this will work.

PCC in SF...ap2001

ap2001,

Once you get your PCC, let us know if it is a stamp in your passport or what? and what does the PCC say?

thanks,

Ogre: Yes, they do stamp your passport and also give you a letter that states...

that they do not have any adverse findings against you that might affect your US visa.

ap2001: Don\'t take the trouble, I think SudhirKumar (Delhi CP) has already posted the format in thi

Refer SudhirKumar "LETS START JAN 2002 APPOINTMENT, DELHI THREAD." 12/5/01 9:20am

That format is correct. I\'ve already recd my PCC from CGNY.

Got PCC from CGI, SF

Hi All

I applied for the PCC on 12/20/2001 @ CGI, SF; both for my wife and myself.

My PCC: received it on 12/21/2001 ( because my passport was issued at CGI, SF some time ago).

My Wife\'s: The expected issue date is 01/21/2002 ( her passport was issued in India)

List of documents:

1) The Misc. Services form - see link below (tell the lady at the counter that you need PCC for USA immigration)

http://www.indianconsulate-sf.org/visa/reneform.pdf

2) 3 Copies of filled Personal Particulars form along with 3 passport size photos, one for each copy - stapled, see link below

http://www.indianconsulate-sf.org/visa/ppertpro.pdf

3) $11 per Applicant.

4) Copies of the Passport along with a copy of your valid visa approval notice.

They kept my passport for a day returned it along with the PCC. For my wife, they asked us to submit the photocopy of all pages of her Passport. They kept the copy and gave us back the Original Passport.

PCC includes a stamp in the passport + PCC document.

If feasible, submit the doc.\'s in person, otherwise also they are accepting through Couriers.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck to all.

Raj
