PCC - MUMBAI - Told to Call Office in India to expedite PCC -

I have applied for PCC at Chicago consulate. I was told by them if you want to expedite , call the Passport Office ? Well I was told to go to the Passport Office.

Can any of you guys doing CP for Mumbai , shed some light on this ?
 
you need to follow up with RPO in Mumbai...

I too am in the process of getting PCC from Chicago, and in my case I had a friend follow up with my passport office in Lucknow. Consulate left me a message that they got my clearance yesterday.

By the way, did they tell you much is the total fees for PCC ? We gave $20/person while submitting the form, and yesterday the consulate message said that we have pay $20 more when we come to collect our PCC! Anybody else who heard this?

I m flying on Saturday .. and they have not heard anything from Mumbai yet.. i cannot get anyone to follow up with the passport office in Mumbai ..
I tried asking CGNY if some one else can pick up my PCC , since I ll be in INdia , they said no , cause they need the passport.
 
Do we have to wait 30 or 40 or 45 days ??

I am not aware of extra $20 when you go to get the PCC. This is shit!!

I paid $11 + $20(some telex charge to EXPEDITE - expedite my foot) each for myself & wife .

I was told to wait 45 days , after that even if Indian Office does not respond they will give the PCC anyways right.

I know they will never respond in 45 days.
Where the hell did they get 45 days number from, I remember I read somewhere 40 days, someone mentioned 30 days.

HOw many days is it ? Should we all send e-mails to the Head OF the Consulate at Chicago , and ask if he can do something.
 
Pro - I applied at Chicago Consulate

and my RPO is Lucknow. The FAX machine in Lko RPO seems to be broken since the fax is not going through, now I have to wait until the diplomatic pouch reaches there, and is returned with clearance.
I like the idea of calling the Consulate General, and asking for help, don\'t know if that will be of any use though. I have asked my parents in India to try and follow up with Lko RPO.
 
the consulate had the wrong fax number for Lucknow RPO!

I got the right one for them, they should have faxed it to Lucknow by now... call to confirm.
 
PCC - Mumbai

Do we need PCC from local havaldar too? We have been in US for long enough to have forgotten by the Pandus. We have PCC from Indian Embassy here in US.

Anyone knowledgeable about this?

How many PCC and from where

As per INS notice ‘As of February 1, 2002, ALL immigrant visa applicants over age 16 MUST present Indian Police Certificates. Two certificates must be obtained as follows: 1) a certificate from your local police station; 2) a certificate from your Regional Passport Office’

My lawyer interpreted this as
- one PCC from either local police station in India or Indian consulate in USA
- one from regional passport office in India

Is that correct interpretation? Are you guys getting 2 PCCs or just 1?

I have been saying this over and over gain.

Local Police Stations have been explicitly told by the higher Police authorities not to issue any PCCs. Such PCCs even if issued, are invalid and illegal.

If some Police Stations are issuing it, they are issuing it either due to ignorance of the new law or due to some unconstitutional/extra-constitutional measures.

The PCC from the Indian consulate here in the US or the PCC isued by the RPO is the only Valid/legal PCC.
