Give it few more days. Generally they wait for about 30 to 40 days and give out the PCC even if they do not receive any information from India.

If you are in a hurry to attend the interview, then you can explain the situation to them and they should be able to issue the PCC right away.

Thanks Raju. I will talk to her in 4 days. Are you from chicago? Did this happen in your case or anyone you know?

When I applied for my PCC beginning of 2003 I did it at SFO. They issued the PCC in about 45 days. I believe the procedure is same for all consulates. If the passport office in India is silent then it is taken as 'No negative report' and the PCC is issued.

If you are attending a consulate in India NORMALLY you don't need to attach PCC with the DS 230 Part I (Packet 3 response). For US Consulates in Canada I believe the procedure is different and they would expect this along with packet 3 response.

The instruction sheet that comes with the Packet 3 would specifically mention the documents you are supposed to send back. If you find PCC as one of those documents then you have to act accordingly.

Hi Raju,
I have sent application form for PCC before 2 weeks to SFO and they said that i need to send original passport only after 35 days.Do i need to call them before i send and post it immediately after 35 days and how many days you think it would take after i send my original passport....

Thanks Raju -

Please note the following

The instructions packet that I have received lists on the first page "Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applications" - this has topics and page numbers listed on it. On the second page it has instructions for DS230 Part I and part II - and in the last part of Page 2 - under "when complete" - heading - it states - "please send all completed DS230 Part I and Part II forms to the NVC with the other documents requested in this information pakcet. " - Does this mean I need to send everything together with DS230 only?

Please advise.

Regards

Ketan

If you live close to San Francisco my advise would be to go to the consulate after 40 days along with the original passport. They will stamp the passport and give you the PCC. If you can't go personally mail the passport with clear reference. They will mail back the PCC and Passport (about 1 week).

Documents with DS230 - Confused

Please I need to know if I send documents with DS230 or not - I will have my CP at Nairobi Kenya - based on what Raju had mentioned earlier - I found out on the INS web site that I need to send documents with DS230 -

The confusion crept in when my lawyer told me yesterday that I do not need to send documents with DS230 - I told him about the web site - he says he will look into this -

Meanwhile, could anybody please confirm this? - The CP will be in Africa - Do I send documents with DS230 or just send the forms? Please help.

Regards

Ketan

Hi
http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/miscch.pdf
you can download this form and select PCC
Go to the consulate with your passport and a copy of it and a covering letter saying you want a PCC for green card/immigration. They will take 20 bucks and give you a receipt and a woman's name to call and followup. After around 35 days if you haven't heard anything.. call the lady and ask her. She will issue it after 40 days for sure. When it is ready you will have to take your passport and the remaining 20 bucks and you will get a pcc and the endorsement in your passport.
Hope this helps.
I completed my PCC from the Chicago consulate. It is areal simple.

Thanks Aonflux for the info...
Do you know can I send the notarized copies to them or I have to go there personally becuase I live in Minneapolis.

Secondly, Do we need to send PCC for Packet 3?

No need to send any notrazied copies. Factually, copies cannot be notarized, the signatures are notraized.

You can send regular copies of whatever you want to send to teh consulate.

Hi Alren.

I worked in 2 coutries before comming to us.. I got the pcc from these coutries some 18 months back.My pd will become current in the next couple of months.Do you think i have to get the pcc again .

Thanks Alren for your reply.
I have one more question:
Is PCC required to be sent as a part of Packet 3?
