PCC here or from India?

Hi, Does anyone know, or throw some light on whether getting PCC from here in US through Indian Consulate (I am staying in US right now) is better (or required) or getting PCC from Local Passport Office and local police stations in India is better? I have people who can get it from India and I need not leave the passport with consulate for 35 days here. Also does any one has the format of the PCC letter to be obtained from the local police station at India?. Thanks.
 
might have to Leave passport in India

Get PCC from US if you can. much less headache. especially if something gets wrong in India.

otherwise, both are equivalent for CP purposes based on experiences by 1 Feb CPers at Mumbai.
