PCC Fundas needed - please help!

Please help share ur experiences w PCCs for the Consular Processing.
a) If one gets it done from Indian Embassy or consulate here in the US, how long does it take? If you have experience w the consulate in NY, please share in detail
b) If one does it from India - how long does it take. From the RPO in New Delhi, I am told that one has to go in person and it can take 5 days or more. Any experience, please share.

my passport was issued in NY , got the PCC in a day .
My wifes was from bombay ..so they made me wait a month.
I had to fly of to Inida for CP , so could not get hers from NY.
So i ran around in Mumbai for it ..
In reality the Mumbai RPO should issue the PCC in 1 hour .. but they could not pull her records on their PC.
So i had to run around .. finally a programmer at the RPO ran a SQL query on their database to show her records , and they gave me her PCC.
Took about 4-5 days in Mumbai to get her PCC.
