Can somebody please refer me to an offical INS/DOS website which clearly states tha Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for Indian Nationals is only required from the Indian Embassy in US and no other PCC is required from local police stations in India.

Or if somebody has an e-mail reply from consulate in India, that will also be helpful.

thanks.

Do we really need PCC from every local station where we stayed in India

Q1. My attorney is giving me hard time that I need PCC from every city where I stayed since my age of 16. My dad was in Indian Army and we moved to dozen different cities during his term in Army. I have already got a PCC from Indian Embassy in Houston. He wants others PCC from cities in India also.

Please give me your thoughts/opinion/suggestions.

Thanks.

Dear applicant,
If you are currently staying in US contact the Indian Consulate
General for the police clearance certificate. As of now the immigrant visa
interviews are not affected. But as advised in the travel warning keep
yourself informed about the latest developements.
Good day-Swamy

Dear Sir,
You do not have to obtain a PCC from local police station in
India as you have not been residing here for such a long time. You only have
to obtain a PCC from the nearest Indian Consulate in U.S.

Thanks.

For benefit of others members

I am just updating the thread so that other members who have questions on PCC can benefit from it.

Thanks.

PCC

Does anyone know if the PCC issued has to be from local consulate only ? I went to India recently anticipating my I40 approval and I got my PCC from my local regional passport office in India. My passport has been stamped and a "conduct" certificate(PCC) was given to me. This happened really fast, within just 2 days I had my passport back, stamped and certificate issued. So I guess I do not have go to Indian consulate in the US again ?? anyway logically it doesn't make any sense but is that by any chance objectionable during consular interview ?
Also does anyone know how current the PCC should be - 3 month, 6 months..??
Any comments -
