PCC from Indian Consulate NY

hi all,

their website says PCC fee is $20. I have heard postings here which say it\'s $40. Could someone who has done this please clarify?

Also, the application on the web asks for original documents of Visa status. Since sending original I797 is probably impracticaly, what do others send? notarized copies?

In the initial stage, notarized copies of passport is all that\'s needed right?

$20 for sending telex to India
$15 for returning your PP & PCC

If you are somewhere near to CGNY , go personally..

It is just $20, carry your passports and a copy also. She will check the Passport and keeps the copies.
 
I paid only $20

I was asked after 6 weeks to send in an additional $20 and I asked why. I was told for sending back the PCC. I said I would send a self addressed envelope and spent a $1.00 or less. Extra amounts are also charged when they receive requests for expediting (sending fax to RPO instead of a telex). I did not ask for this because I applied for PCC at the same time as my I-140 and was happy to wait out for their worse case scenario of 45 days.
If you are in a hurry just pay up what ever they ask and get it done with.
 
i send only $15 and I went there personally on March 05

I had applied for my PCC on Dec 21st,I called them up and asked them in the first week of Feb,they said it was ready.
I had send only the
passport copies
Miscellaneous Services form
2 photos
and money order with covering letter.

I went in the first week of March personally to CGNY and got it.

It is still not clear to me what amount should be paid. Can someone tell me for sure is it $20 as mentioned on the website? I am going to send my original passport to CGNY and my passport was issued in the US. Does that mean it will get back in 2 days? do the fees still remain $20?

office in India the you can give only one $ 20.00. For you child there is no
police clearence required and if its requried by US goverment then we\'ll
issue her one provided she should hold and Indian passport.

When we get the reply from India you have to send the original pasport and
$20.00 for you and $20.00 fro your wife and mailing charges.

I paid only $11 at Houston

Hi,

I got my PCC from Houston. I paid $11 for PCC and $20 for birth certificate ( i know this
birth certificate is of no use, but for the safe side). I do not understand why
do you have to pay $20 at other indian consulate.

I\'ve also applied for PCC from houston. I sent $22 ( $11 for myself and $11 for my wife ) .

How long did it take for you to get PCC ?

I am going to send my passport to get PCC. I was wondering if it is okay to send only one return draft for $15 for both (husband and wife) or is it necessary to send 2 separate drafts. Please let me know. ALso should I send it in 2 different envelopes or can it be sent together?
