Hi

Can anyone please share, as to what is the format of getting the PCC(from district Police office) for dependents in India.

I know that for people in India, the consulate needs 2 PCCs, one from passport office, which is very easy to get. And one more from the district Police office.

Can anyone please tell me what is the format of PCC, that one should get from district police station. SHould it be district headquarters OR it can be local Police station.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks

It is from the district police headquarters.
Generally the process is similar to getting Police Clearence at the time of issueing you passport.

I will explain the scinario in Hyderabad. It may change from district to district but the process could be the same.
You have to meed the Asst Commissionar of Police, Special branch with a written application requesting for you PCC. The application should out line the periods of your stay in the Hyderabad twin cities and the addresses at that time. You also need to produce proofs of your residence claim. He is not satisfied with Telephone records or bank statements etc. He needs a concrete proof. The ACP says that he should be convinced first to issue a PCC to you (kind of head ache). He will issue an application form similar to the one issued by the passport office while getting the PCC from them. Fill that and submit the same in the office along with a Challan for Rs 500/- per application.
Guys from the ACP office will come to your residence and verify ( they will take photo copies of your proofs). Usually it will take around 15 days for them to issue the PCC. You can speed it up in the Indian ways.

I found that getting the PCC from other districts where there is not much rush is much faster and is usually 2 to 3 days.

For Chennai, you only need PCC from the current place of residence.

Hope this helps you.
Good luck

Well, It looks similar and the one issued from Hyderabad doesn’t have a picture on them. I have seen other districts here issuing the PCC with picture on them. The one from Hyderabad will have some more lines which mentions about the Immigration VISA to America etc.

Coming to the residence proof, he is looking for a permanent records like, Ration Card, or Election commissions photo Id or land records. Telephone bills, gas bills, drivers license, even passport etc will not work. If you don’t have one such record, then you got problem. It all depends on how you convince him. He may asks for residence certificate from the local municipal authorities or Revenue officer etc. you have to start from the revenue department in the Indian way.

Once you could convince him then rest will go smoothly.

If you live in chennai, is it enough if you get PCC from local police station (say from the Inspector)?
Or, is it must to get from district police station?
