Where to go get PCC in Bombay? I've been a resident of Bombay all my life. With interview coming up I need one of the items is PCC. Can you tell me where to get PCC? What documents do I need to apply for it? How much is the fee?

Thank you much Sirs for your kindly replied answers, as a thanks I have given to you in advance of their receipts.

If you currently reside in US you just need a PCC from the nearest Indian consulate. Otherwise contact the nearest superintendent of police in Bombay. You will need your passport and proof of residence. You can also try to contact the passport office.

Then you would need 2 PCCs.

*One from the passport office , where your passport has been
issued. Go to the PP office and apply for it.

AND

* Another from the Police authorities of the area where you live.
You may approach the local police station. Either they give
it to you, or they may direct you to the office which deals with
the PCCs.

Why passport office for PCC?

Passport office? Are you sure? Did anybody here here do this before? These passport offices needs lots of hand greasing beggary.

Re: Where to get PCC?

If you have lived only in Bombay then you will need only 1 PCC. Get if from a superintendent of police, not your local police station.

I am in bangalore from past 15 months (returned from US)and in the process of CP.And I got PCC from passport office. But should I take another pcc from local police station?

We are not discussing the ethics of the people at the passport
office, here. If it's needed, it's needed!

The question is, 'If someone is presently residing in India, how
many PCCs is he/she supposed to carry?'.

My understanding is, they need to carry 2 PCCs:

1) One from the passport office.

2) The second one from the local police authorities. (Only
exception is , if your passport is issued within the last
6 months, then you are exempt from this second PCC.).

We need comments from people who have personal experience
with this issue.

I can give you my sisters experience who got a PCC for her K3 visa. She has lived in india all her life and her passport is electronic etc.
You have to go to your local police station who will refer you to the CID branch. There they will tell you two months unless you birbe him you get it in a week. If you know marathi it comes in handy when negotiating the bribe. Good place to start is your local Police station they know "US consulate PCC"
thanks

I will tell you my experience.

My passport was issued in Bangalore. So, I went to PP office in Bangalore and I was issued clearance certificate in just 1 day.
I went to the Police Commissioner's office and gave a letter requesting for a PCC. They inturn will send that to the police staion where you live. The police will come or youmay have to go to that police station. They will then send it back to the commisioner's office. You can check with the local police station as to when it was sent and then go there and collect it.

If the passport is issued in other city like mumbai, in case of my wife, Bangalore passport office will send the PP to mumbai for verification and in this case ,it will take 3-4 weeks to get clearance certificate from passport office.

>>I have already send PCC from passport office to lawyer. Since I live in bangalore.Do we need send PCC from police office to NVC ?Or can I get them for interview?

Thanks

ac140madras:

normally attorneys ask for photocopies fo the PCC(s) for documentation purposes. The actual use of the PCC is on the day of the interview.

Make sure you carry the original PCC(s) on the day of your interview. Originals required; photocopied PCC's are not accepted!

Being a current resident of Bangalore, you would need one
additional PCC from the local police authorities. Normally
the DSP/ SP office handles these issues. You will get the info.
by going to your local Police station.

If you have sent the Original PCC (obtained from Passport Office)
to your attorney, get it back, so that you can carry it to the
consulate along with the second PCC mentioned above.
