paystub for last 3 months - from what date to count?

I have received an RFE for I-485, one of the requests is to provide paystubs for the last 3 months.

1) Does this mean 3 months back from the date the RFE was issued? or 3 months back from the date RFE is answered?
2) Does it have to be exactly 3 months, or could it be 2.5 months counting back from whatever the valid endpoint is.

P.S. Sorry for posting in a I140 section, there seem to be more people here and it should not matter for paystubs.

It is the latest available. Which means some of them can be after the RFE.
