Pattern

According to the new backlog reduction plan, the target for 485 till end of FY'04 (30th Sep 2004) is 20 months. So they should be done with all cases filed before 30th Jan'03 by then. That means - cover a year's worth of 485 in 3 months(?!) - they better get to work.

The target for 140 is 8 months, I think they are comfortable there.

Jan and Feb 03 I-485 cases are being approved too.

Can anyone think of what is going on at VSC? Are they trying to avoid 2nd FPs?

Yes that is what it looks like. Basically they are processing all 2002 till Feb 2003 in one go. Don't be surprised to see FPs coming in anytime now.

Do you have any data to back this up (other than the postings on this message board)? I would be interested, if you can share that. Thanks a lot.

My speculations are based on posting and more specifically posting patterns.

FInger Print

Just a thought?

How a person's Finger print will change/expire in 1 year time?

USCIS takes our FP and sends them to FBI, which send the resluts of the FP back. USCIS stores this result and NOT the actual FP's on file. After 15 months, as a policy the results expire and they have to recheck our background to make sure we did not comit a crime during that period. But as they do not store the actual finger prints, we have to be re finger printed, FPs sent to FBI and the whole cycle starts over.

I did hear sometime back that soon USCIS may have the ability to store the actual FP's and this would make re finger printing unessecary.

Officer Assignments

Does our 140/485/765/131 ..applications are handled my same Officer.

My Ideology, if all our applications are assinged to same Officer, our approval time will be reduced considerably.

This is just my view.
