I renewed my passport (old one was expiring in Jan07) which has a valid visa stamped till Aug06). Recently I changed my job and got my new I797 valid till Nov07.

Now, I am planning to visit outside the US but I am confused whether I can re-enter US using my current visa (from old employer and on old passport) with the new passport and new I797 or I need to get new H1 stamped before I re-enter.

Suggestions are appreciated.
 
If your new I-797 is in the same work category then you can use old valid visa / passport to re-enter.
 
You can use your old passport valid visa to re-enter having new I 797 with you.
However if you could get appointment better get it stamped your new H1.
