Hi friends,

Finally my CN is inside the Feb 2009 cut off number. But, I am in trouble. I have sent my passport to Homeoffice (UK) for renual of visa. It may takes month's of month sometime. I will be in trouble - what happen If I didn't get back my passport by February ?? Is there any possibility of postpond interview date ? or get my passport back without VISA renued just for interview ? Do I need VISA of this country into my passport in order to appear for interview ?

Have anyone had such a situation ? please need your help.

yes but it depends with consular officer

I was in your situation and had to go without my passport among other documents but it worked out well with I getting a note on a blue paper stating my application will be reconsidered when I bring my passport they gave me the green light to return any working day on 1pm with the passport and when i did about two weeks later i was given my visa. My advice is that you inquire beforehand from the embassy and if its not possible consider postponing the interview if you are sure you will not get the passport by Feb. All the best

Thanks 'waks' for your thoughful advice. Did you inform embassy before you attend for interview about your situation ? or just appeared without passport and explain your situation ! It that happened here in UK or somewhere else !!!

Hi.

I totally understand the situation u are in, as i've also waited for the home office to return my passport. I would say follow WAKS advice and contact the US Embassy and find out what will be acceptable to them. If u can get it in writing from them too, say after you call them, then all the better.

Also, keep your letter from the home office nearby. The one where they write to inform you confirmation that they have your passport.

And be sure too that your passport has at least 6 months before its expiry by the time you attend the interview.

what if someone goes to us embassy but he does not contain a legle visa/ extension/ rejection of the visa extension for the foreign country he is staying in! Does us embassy take in account your legle status in a foreign country?

my case

I live in Kenya what happened is that my passport came out with an error that i feared would have brought me problems in my interview I thus took it for correction but unnecesary delays led to me not having my passport in time. I wrote and called the Nairobi embassy for a postponement of the interview but they refused the request on the 11th hour and told me that as long as I had my medicals, appointment letter, passport photos and all the other required docs I should attend the interview. During the interview an officer had asked me to go back untill I get the passport and then book another interview but she later called me when I was about to leave the gate and processed my case to the end.
I would say what matters in the interview is honesty and full disclosure. try as much as posible to get everything you need but if it doesnt work inform the embassy on your situation before the interview and they will advise accordingly. Most consular officers go out of their way to ensure DV applicants get their visas rather than frustrate them as one would imagine. all the best I will keep following your case and I know you will be through

Thanks you all guys for your valuable advice. I have also the same feeling 'slimsmile' has ! What happen if home office reject my visa renual and send my passport without any stamp eg, rejection ? Do I have to have a regal stay stamp on my passport when I present myself for interview ? Do they care my legal stay here in UK or not ? any though will be highly appreciated.

I totally agree with you mate on that last paragraph. Full disclosure is important too. It leaves u less tense during the interview. Our interview (spouse, child, & self) lasted about 5-10 mins. And all they were interested in was confirmation of a few things and that was it. Congratulations they said - you're visas will be with you tomorrow. And they were

Thank you all friends for your valuable advice. I will do my best, and rest of the matter leave to god.

My leave to remain visa denies. Have an interview next week. I have right to appeal and doing so. But, my question is, do I eligible to attend interview ? doesn't it seems illigal ? What to say in interview ??? GOD IS NOT MY FAVOUR !!!
