Passport when travelling in US

Hi,

Does anybody knows how strict at the airport reg passport?? I have sent my passport for visa revalidation. If i have to travel in US, are there any problems without passport. I have photocopy of the PP. Does anybody face this kind of problem??
 
I think you better keep the passport

also most important keep the I-94 / approval notice from company
with you
 
copies are enough

i am travelling since october 2001 and no one ever asked my passport or H1 just the drivers license.But still i carry all the documents just in case.so if you dont have originals copy\'s will work.

thanks for the quick response. I-94 and H1 approval also with State dept. i have all the copies. Does that do??
