Passport Validity for GC stamping

My passport will expire by Jan 2004, will i have any problem in GC stamping? Is it mandatory that the passport be valid for atleast one year.

Its easier to renew your passport. SO that u canget it stamped on the new passport. It only take a day to get your passport renewed. I renewed recently
 
Could you please provide me the information about:
1. Where did you send the application for renewal.
2. List of needed documents
3. site where you get application for renewal.

Vijmas for the info you provided. If you cld answer my another question, I wanted to know if the renewals has to be made at New York only or will there be also local offices to walk-in and get the passport renewed.

Can anybody please share their experience of renewing passports in Chicago Consulate general of India. I stay in Detroit and want to drive to Chicago to get my pp renewed in one day.

Vijmas can you pl tell where did you get yours renewed?

I live in OHIO so did in NY. I did by mail.It took 1 week for the entire process.
