passport validity 6 or 12 months?

do you know how long the passport has to be valid from the day of the CP interview date? is it 6 or 12 months? i have emailed the mumbai consulate about the issue and still am waiting for a response.

The document NVC mailed with P3 reccomends a minimum validity of 8 months, but most consulates reccomend minimum 6 months.

tks for ur response. i had seen an earlier message (abt an year ago) that said it cud be either 6 or 12 mos and to check with the consulate. i will take your word for it sicne you are scheduled to go their soon and must have checked out all the *details*

Thanks for the wishes - I believe you are talking about the other Sandeep - my case is stuck at Chennai and EB3 - god knows when I would go there....
