Passport Validation & H1-B stamping

I just had a quick question.

My passport is going to expire in Feb 2008.

I am going to go to either India or Canada for my Revalidation sometime in March or April 2007.

Is my passport validity going to be an issue?

I read somewhere that the passport has to be valid between 6 months to 12 months? (On the VFS Website)

The india embassy will only renew the passport if it is going to expire in next 6 months.

Can any one explain the passport validity stuff for H1- Validation??

Thanks

Andy

I believe it is minimum 6 months validity from the date you are going for renewal. You should be able to verify this on US consulate's web-site.

------------------I think it need to be valid for 6 months. they will stamp the visa till H1 approval expiry date.if your visa is valid in expired passport and you get new passport then you need to keep both the passport stapled and show at POE.

when you enter US and if your passport is going to expire in 6 months and visa stamp is valid for 1 year or 3 year then I-94 validity will be till passport expiry date. for more info check with your lawyer
Thanks

I did check the website for US consulate, Mumbai & they said it minimum 6 month validity.

but VFS the agency who handles everything for them on their website say 6 - 12 months. hence the confusion
