Passport Surrender

Hello All,

I hope I am posting in the right area. If not please excuse.

I have a question regarding the surrender application. I cannot decide on the 'Most Recent Indian Passport' and the 'Current Passport'. Are they asking for the details of my current US passport here - though when I place the cursor on the field I see the comment as Indian Passport. If not, why do they ask the details twice?

Please throw your inferences on this.

Thank you.

The Travisa Order form that the applicant fills to request the Renunciation of Indian Citizenship thru Travisa has the following columns :

The applicant should provide US Passport details (if you are already an American Citizen). The Current Passport Issue Place will be ' Unites States, Department of State' for most of the applicants.
Current Passport Number, Current Passport Issue Date, Current Passport Expiration Date , Current Passport Issue Place .

The below mentioned columns seek details about your last held Indian Passport ( which needs to be send in.. )
Most Recent Passport Number,Most Recent Passport Issue Date, Most Recent Passport Exp. Date, Most Recent Passport Issue Place.

Hi,

Thank you for the response. The order form I am trying to fill is for Texas. The information I mentioned is on the 2nd page of the application form.

Here, first it asks for the Current Nationality.

Then in the next section it asks for: Information of Your Most Recent Indian Passport.Passport Number: Expiration Date: Date of Issue: Place of Issue:

In the next section, it asks for: Information of Your Current Passport: Passport Number: Expiration Date: Date of Issue: Place of Issue:

In both these sections there are boxes where you can either fill up information or select from the pull down like the date etc. In boxes where one has to make the input, if you place the cursor, it will show a message of the particular details to be entered. So if one puts the cursor on the the box of the second section where it asks for the information of the current passport, it will say "Please enter the current passport number" and then the expiration date and date of issue can be selected from the pull down. When one places the cursor on the box where one has to input the Place of Issue, the message shows up is " Please enter Indian Passport Place of Issue" - which is what confuses me.

If anyone have experience regarding this, please let me know.

Thank you.

just to update I got the info from travisa - houston:

Current Passport is the US passport according to Travisa!!!

- very strange though....because as I mentioned previously - when one puts the cursor on the box where one has to input the Place of Issue, the message shows up is " Please enter Indian Passport Place of Issue"

hopefully this wont affect the processing of my renunciation as I am going to enter the US passport details as per Travisa person - wish me luck and good luck to all!!!

you are being un-necessarily worried. software has bugs. current passport means current passport. its help text may not be updated.

thanks for your concern sanjose. its better to worry now than worry later, once everything is send out...in which case you may be sitting and thinking that it will be under process while it may be on hold...to be honest when I called Travisa, they didn't even have a quick answer...so I am yet not sure...but anyways I am considering to hope for the best!
