Yesterday, my husband and I went down to the Charleston, SC INS office for his passport stamping. The officer asked for his EAD and his I-94. Then, he took his passport, stamped it, and wrote in an expiration date. The officer said that the plastic card was "in transit with a batch of them" and would take anywhere from 30 days to 1 year to arrive. We are hoping, of course, that the card will arrive very soon. It is our understanding that the card will be IR-6, the permanent 10 year card.
For all of you SC applicants, Charleston is finally taking infopass appointments. We got there at 8:30 a.m. and my husband, a walk-in, was the second to be seen.
It has been a very, very long journey and it is kind of surreal that it is over. I shouldn't say that because it won't be completely over until my husband is a citizen, has a U.S. passport and never ever ever has to deal with INS again.
