Passport stamping experience in San Francisco

Heard the voice message approval on Sep 20th. Got my CC on Sep 27th. My receipt date was Sep 18, 2001.

Went to INS office in San Francisco on Sep 30th at around 8.50am. Once you reach there, in Room 200B ..just place the following documents : the CC, passport, I-94, your form I 797( I don't think it is needed but no harm in carrying it), 2 ADIT style pictures ...you put them thru a slot provided on the door to Room 200B. No one is there to talk to or ask anything ..nor is it needed.

Around 9.15am, my name was called out. the officer asked me if I had my EAD and AP with me which I did(please carry them too!). Next he asked me to sign on a document and took a finger print of the inder finger, gave back my I797 form, and asked me to wait for a few mins. I had to wait for almost 1hr! ..

Around 10.30 he called my name again, handed me the passport and showed me where the stamp was ..and explaining that now I am free to travel/work and that I should get my actual card in 6-7months.

All in all it was a pretty painless task. Remember to carry a book if you are going alone!

Good luck to all those who are awaiting approval!
