Passport Stamping Done

Went to Memphis, TN for passport stamping.
It was cool, my number was 49, but it took 30 minutes for my turn, because everybody was not for stamping.

Officer to my 3 EAD cards, H1s, I-94, 2 sets of Advance parole and 2 pictures, put them in a plastic bag.

Took my signature & FP (index finger) on a paper (both sides). Stamped my passport. Told me that I will receive my card in 9 months to 1 year.

Thats all.

Waiting for my wife and kids approval. Lawyer told me to get my passport stamped.

S R Jumde ... what do you mean when you said - they took your "H1". Did they take your I-797 - Notice Of Action ? I believe they are not authorised to take that.

They can take back the EADs and APs not not H1.
 
I had my H1 which I did no get stamped after renewal in year 2002 after EAD.
They took that from my passport where it was stapeled.
 
Was there any reason why the lawyer told you to get passport stamped. My spouse hasn't been approved yet and I decided to wait until it comes in before I make the trip to Detroit office
 
She asked me to get the passport stamped to be on the safer side, she did not give me any explanation.

I believe the earlier you go stamping, the earlier you get your plastic card since you give the photos and fingerprint for the plastic card.

Did they stamp on your passport or on a blank I94 form? Is the photo format same as the one on our EAD card/AP?

They stamped on the 1st blank page of my passport. The photo format is the same. I took pictures at Sears.
 
Did they ask any Employment related questions?

Did they ask any Employment related questions like whether you are working for the same Employer etc...?

They normally don't ask this question unless they find out that your boss is an ex cop. :D
 
Nobody asked me any question at all. Once you receive the Approval letter then it is over.

You know what?

Two days back the ex-cop spent only 2 hours in the Manager's room. And also just the room closed. Wondering what this girl has to talk much?

Did they take the original I-485 Approval Notice when you got your passport stamped ?

Yes, They took original which was posted to my lawyer and the courtsey copy which was posted to me.
They asked for the address where I need my card to be mailed.
The officer cut accross the lawyers address and asked me to put my address over there.
 
Thanks SRJumde ... So that means I need to take the lawyer's copy for stamping ....

Any progress with you kid's case ?
 
On this forum lot of people mentioned that courtsey copy is ok, but I had to goto Memphis, TN which is 3 hours drive from my place and I did not want to take chances, so I waited for my lawyer to send me the original. Then I was also waiting if my wife and kids approval comes thru in that time then I do not have to go again to Memphis, but it is not approved yet for them.

May be my wife had to go for 3rd FP in June, I think her will be approved along with the kids this week or next week as per my calculations.
Let us hope for the best.
