Passport Stamping after 485 approval - Please Help

My wife\'s passport expires in NOV 01. We are expecting our 485 approval any time now. Do you have to have more than one year validity in the passport for the immigration visa stamp? Also if I send the passport for renewal now, is there a time line by when you have to get your passport stamped after 485 approval?

Passport renewal takes very little time. Especially the SFO office. I had a turnaround of less than a week. I think you should go ahead and renew it.

You can submit for the passport renewal six months before the expiry date. If you are in Chicago area, probably you can go personally and get it back within couple of days. Also if you send by mail, it takes less than couple of weeks.
