The rituals of getting passport stamped was completed today.

I got my passport stamped today. It was pretty fast. I did not wait for my attorney to send me the courtesy copy. Me and my wife reached broad street around 9:45am. Parked our car (2 hours $6.95) on Mulberry street. Later noticed that there is a parking right behind the Rodino building. Showed our courtesy copy at the door and security checked inside. There was a line with about 20 people inside. We waited there for about 30 minutes. We were called and we showed our documents (Courtesy copy, I-94, EADs, Advance Parole). She put those in an envelope and gave us a ticket no. We went in room 135 where about 30-40 people were waiting. Our number was called in 50 minutes. We were done in 5 minutes. She stamped the passoprt and we were out by 11:30am.

Our observation was that if you reach there around 11am, you should be done quicker.

Anyways, we are happy that the ordeal is over and we are permanent resident.

Good luck to you all.

Sheffs,

Thanks. You are right. In less than 36 hours (from when I heard about my approval) I got my passport stamped. After hitting every stumbling block during my GC journey, I got little restless and raced the final few days.

Your day is not too far. Good luck.

Ashish

Even I got my passport stamped at Newark using the courtesy copy today. We (me & my wife) had gone to my lawyers office but they have not yet received the original. I had entered the Federal building at about 10:45 AM using the front entrance and a perfect gentleman (fellow indian waiting for the stamp) strolling in the halls told me to go straight to the room 134/135 (I think). After that it was submitting the papers to one lady officer who took the FP and signatures. We were asked to wait in room next door and in 30 minutes had the stamp. We went back to our car and upon starting it, the radio roared with "We are the Champions" song from Rolling Stones .... done & over ..

Hi nina rikki,

I would suggest to avoid taking kids unless they are extremely quiet. Let\'s face it, it is hard for kids to stay quiet for that long (2-3 hours). The atmosphere is quite kid unfriendly. Moreover kids are not required to get the stamping done, their greencard should come in mail. I am assuming that your son is not a citizen already.

If you have to, then make sure the kid is kept busy with books or toys etc. The security guard is very particular about feeding kids there. They suggest you to take your kid upstairs if they cry too much or you try to feed them. It is a torture for kids anyway. Also, you can sit in the waiting room (room 135) before your turn comes up for the line inside (before you get the papaerwork handed to the officer).

Good luck

I have to take him (even tho\' he is a citizen.) due
to child care issues.

I was just wondering if I am not allowed to take.

Nina,

You surely can take him. Take toys or someone who can entertain him for 2-3 hours. Good luck. You\'ll be alright!
