First of all, the I-485 approval notice asks you to go to the 6th floor, Room 650. This is incorrect. You are required to go to counter number 5 on the first floor directly after going through a security check.
I reached there at 8:30. Got a ticket #, which was 20 numbers ahead of the current one that was being processed at the time. My turn came at 11:15. The IO was very pleasant. She took my finger prints, signature, copies of photographs (there are mobile photograph shops outside the INS office where one can get the photographs taken but they may be expensive) stamped my passport, took back my EAD and current Advance Parole documents and mentioned that I would get my card in 9 months.
That was it - I took the rest of the day off from work!
Thanks for everyone\'s input.
