Passport renewal after I485

I is better if you can notify them with your I-485 filing receipt and attach the copy of new passport pages, write in the cover letter that you got new passport so that info should be attached with your file( I don’t think they will attach it, most of the time they don’t update the new address even if informed, your I-485 file is in storage room they may not attach it) at the time of GC interview or GC temporary stamp take both the passports with you. Keep the copies of old and new passport in your file at home.

What is the advantage of doing that? Usually Attorney's say that's not required.
