Passport Problem. Please advise!

Hi,

Could you please suggest what can be done in the following situation:
I have applied for my passport 11 days ago, expedited service. I wanted 'overnight delivery', but the guy in the post office said that it did not make any sense, since it was Friday last week.

Guess what? There is no record of my application. I did call the Passport Information Center, they told me that I should wait a couple of days, because of the holidays, etc... They also asked if the money order was cashed, but what does it mean? Money were deducted from my account. Unfortunately I even can't find money order receipt.

Did anybody have a similar experience? Could the application be lost?

You know how it feels: I am SO WORRIED, at the moment I do not have a single proof of citizenship as it is written on the Naturalization Certificate: Copies are illegal.

WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

Where did you apply?

I aplied in Concord, Massachusetts. The guy from the post office said that they send 'it" (I do know what 'it means means; the application or just the money order to Philadelphia). Well, it could be snow days, holidays, but still... I am desperate!

Mara, Sorry to hear that, did you do through express or priority? either case is it traceable now?
typically Post office does sincere trace for you, (also express orders gets automatic 100$ refund to (not that you care at this point))
I did expedite mine 15 days ago (In Chelmsford,MA) and it took exactly 12 days for pp book

Money order can be tracked by the post office - did you pay through cash or debit card? if debit card they may be able to track your original money order serial number

I think the culprits are Snowmageddon, Snowmageddon II and President's day. The post office is usually pretty good with these things so if they said they sent it off to Philly, they sent it off to Philly.

It is NOT illegal to make copies of your own naturalization certificate for legitimate use.

I know it sucks, but please be patient. You will get your passport soon. Unfortunately the passport office will not be able to track your application and let you know the status. Regarding post office, they have mailed your entire application and the money order. You can go to the post office with your receipt (if you still kept it) and they can let you know if your money order was cashed.

First of all, this topic belongs in the "after citizenship" section. Second, there should be a sticky informing people that it is perfectly legal to make copies of one's own certificate.

I was also very worried to send my only proof of citizenship in the mail to the passport centre, so before doing that I changed my status with SSA and applied for a DL with new name (I changed name). This is the minimum requirement to satisfy I-9 form and to pass eVerify process. So, even if my certificate and the passport never arrived, I would still be able to get employment.

As for the delay in the online status, I would not worry about it. The author sent his/her application on Friday, and there was three-day weekend, so today is the first business day since sending the application. I got the online status tracking only 5 business days after sending expedited application, so I would say that the OP should wait several more days before starting to panic.

Yeah. I thought that as well, but OP sent the application the Friday before last (11 days ago). But, as most of last week was snowed out on the east coast, today is probably Work Day # 3.
OP, I'd wait until midweek next week before getting too worried.
