Question on Passport Name Change

My wife recently got her EAD in April 2002 and has a valid status (she had come to the country as a visitor)

Her documents like the EAD, SocialSecurityNo and AdvancePayroll are under her new Married Name, However her passport is still on the old Name, is that a problem ??

Where should we go to get the name change done on the passport ??

Is the indian Embassy in NY the right place to get this done ??
or do we also need to register the marriage in India(Bombay) and then get the name change done in India(Bombay).

Will her old name on the passport be a problem while travelling ??
Will her old name on the passport be a problem when she goes for passport stamping on 485 approval ??

Can someone please share any similar experince..

Not an issue...

Name on passport can be changed at NY...

If travelling before name change, carry a copy of marriage certificate..

You do need to have new name on passpot when its time to get GC stamped..so u have time till GC is approved to change name
