Passport issue

HI everyone,

I recieved a letter to get my fingerprints done few days ago and i got it done just the other day. Now i notice that my passport would be expring in May.

now what should I be doing rite away? how is the process gonna work? i have alredy given biometrics and i don't know what next i would be recieveing from uscis.

how should i go about renewing my passport?

what if i send my passport to the place where it should be renewed, and inbetween all that, i end up recieving letter from uscis that i need to get my passport stamped for the green card approval.

i am stumped. please, can someone help?

That is country-dependent. If your country of citizenship has an embassy in the US, you can probably renew it by sending them the old passport along with the paperwork and fees. Otherwise you may have to send it back to your country of citizenship. Search for your country's embassy on the web and/or talk to people back in your original country.

Is your priority date current or almost current? If not, you should not expect your green card to be approved soon.

Even if your green card is approved soon, stamping the passport is no longer done as standard procedure. Upon approval, they will directly send the physical card which should arrive in 1 or 2 weeks after approval. Stamping is for the few people who have still not received the card after waiting at least 30 days since approval.

i am from India and yes there is an embassy for that country here and is pretty famous too

and my papers were filed in 2005. These days i think the current dates are going on.

do u have any idea how long will my process take to end so that i can recieve my G.C.

------------------------------------ You can get your Indian passport renewed from Indian Embassy DC OR any nearest Indian consulate near to your location.

what is your PD? (PD is the date when LC was recieved by DOL)
EB3 or EB2??
your I-140 approved or pending?
if EB3 and from India and PD is 2004 then it may take 2-3 years for GC.

mate i thought i placed the details in the opening post.

i have been already done with I-140.

I got done with my Fingerprints also.

it's none of the EB2 or EB3.

my papers for work permit were filed around september 2007 and by october 2008 i recieved my work permit which was valid for one year, untill october 2008.. now after that my work permit got renewed and soon a month later i recieved letter for finger prints..

when i said that i am not on eb2 and eb3, i actually meant that i am on EB1.. so yes, i am on EB1

isn't I-140 THE labor/work permit??? i got my labor in october, 2007, and it expired after one year that is during october, 2008 and i got it renewed then.

For EB1 one does not need Labor certification. I think you are confused.

i am just 16 years old and everything was done by my parents so i don't know how it all worked.

now after gaining information, here is what i got for you

we filed for I-765 in september 2007.

then later on after a month or two we recived our social security/labor and just couple of days ago we recieved our letter for the appointment for the biometrics/fingerprinting and we got done with it just the other day..

-------------------- before posting ask your parents or let them read what is posted here.
now after gaining information, here is what i got for you

we filed for I-765 in september 2007.
-----------------------I-765 is form for EAD and EAD is for work if I-485 is Pending.
then later on after a month or two we recived our social security
------------- if you got EAD then you went to SSA office to apply for social security number. Social security office gave you form to fill and you submitted the form and they took the copy of EAD and sent you Social security card in mail.


/labor
---------- you dont get Labor, it is filed by US employer. I think for your father or mother employer filed Labor and after labor got approved filed I-140 and you filed I-485 with your parents I-485. you also filed form I-765 and got the EAD.

and just couple of days ago we recieved our letter for the appointment for the biometrics/fingerprinting and we got done with it just the other day..
------------ Now wait ................... we dont know if for your father the LC is EB2 or EB3 and we dont know where you were born or your parents birth country.

------------------ Stop posting and let your parent post as that they know what to post and they know what is PD and what is EB1 EB2 or EB3.
