Passport got Damaged

Hi Everybody,

Unfortunately my passport got damaged accidentally. I was checking on the Indian Consulate (NY) website. They say, it takes 3-6 months for a Duplicate passport. Will it take so long??? Is it possible to get it sooner.

Could anybody share any experience please.

Hi,

That is what they say. But you might as well approach the Consul General and tell him why you need the passport earlier. If he is satisfied you will get it in a month or so. One of my friends got it like that.

indian consulate is effecient-they (houston)renewed my passport in 14 days.
 
You should get a new passport within 1-2 weeks

I spoke with an Indian Consulate officer in Houston recently and he told me that they issue a new one within a week.

Hi Jay,

You must be renewing your PP. But in case of Lost / Damaged they take atleast 2 months. Thats what they told me at NYC consulate
