Passport getting expired. What will happened to stamped H1 visa.

After 10 years of validity my passport is expiring very soon. I called Indian consulate. And they said I have to apply for new passport. What will happened to my visa stamped in present. Do i have to sent again to Washinton DC for stamping on new passport.

Please reply. Also let wheater you have done this before.
