Passport expring and Interview

My passport expires in Sep 2002 and my AOS(485) interview is scheduled on 17th June. I heard from a friend that my passport should be valid for next months on the day of interview. Is it true? Does any one has similar situation? I have only 5 business days left for interview and I am not sure whether I can get my passport renewed from Indian Consulate (SF) in 5 business days.

If you go personally to the Indian Consulate, you can get the passport on the same day

Consulate general\'s web site says that passport with letter (F) in expiry date should get new bookl

Go to Consulate and talk to them about your problem

I am sure they can give you the new passport before the 17th.
I had sent my passport for renewal by US certified Ack due mail (new boklet) and got it back by mail within 6 working days.

The consulate prefers that no one come to them in person. And they are quite efficient if you send your passport application by fedex they take close to 3 days to have it sent back to you.
