Passport expires next month, need to cross border again to re-stamp TN ?

Hello All

My TN expires 2012, but my passport expires in about 1 month. I just received my new passport. Do I need to go back to Canada and cross border again to get my new passport re-stamped ?

I crossed border a few months ago and the officer alerted me that my passport expires May 2011, he said even though my TN does not expire till 2012, I should still cross border again before May 2011 and get my new passport re-stamped, is that true?

Where possible, I do not want to go back to Canada till the end of this year. I wonder if the cross border officers will give me a hard time coming back asking why I never return to Canada and restamp my TN before the old passport expires.

It is not required to have passport stamped with TN if you have a valid I-94. That is officious garbage.

You should simply mail-in for your new passport in case you need to travel for other reasons, but getting a TN stamp in your passport is not one of those reasons.
