Passport Card

You should get it before end of September as promised. I applied a month before you in mid May and got my passport card yesterday.

My 13 year old sister has a green card. My parents recently naturalized as US citizens and promptly applied for a US passport for my sister. They received the passport within a few weeks. Interestingly, the green card was also returned to us with the passport. Since she is a US citizen what should we do with the green card? Are we required to send it back to USCIS? Is there an well defined procedure for this?

Are we required to send it back to USCIS?

I don't believe so. However, if an application for a Certificate of Citizenship is filed on her behalf, the USCIS may request that the green card be returned before issuing the certificate.

I agree with C R S. Hold onto the Green Card for now. If your family decides to apply for N-600 USCIS will likely ask you for the Green Card, or to send them the Green Card. Funny thing is that when I got the certificate of citizenship for my child (through form N-600) they sent a letter in the same envelope saying that there was an envelope to send the Green Card. I could never find the envelope, so I haven't sent anything and I am holding to the Green Card until I get a corrected certificate (that's another story). By the way, this post was quite off topic for this thread.

Wow, there is no easy advice. You mentioned earlier that your case was not found in the passport agency online status check tool. That smells bad. If you still have some receipts from the post office I would go and check with them and tell them your situation and that the case was never found and that you are afraid the post office lost your application. Perhaps (as they have direct contact with the passport agency) might be able to straighten this out. However, I am afraid they might have lost the application (either the post office or the passport office).

Good luck.

Hi ,

I have not yet received my passport card what should i do? Please advise...

Thanks

Hi, I managed to contact NPIC (National Passport Information Center) by email. The reply was immediate .... They informed me that my Passport card has been mailed. So I am expecting it soon.

Happy New year to you and all.

jmizzi,

I hope you get the passport card soon. That definitely was a very long wait for it.
