How long does it take to get US passport? On its website its say it takes 4-6 weeks but in practically how long does it take to get US passport by ordinary fees?

Its usually in April-September that they are busy, you will get your passport in about 2 weeks even with ordinary processing at this time.
as you see in my timeline below, I applied in January and it only took me 9 days to receive my brand new passport and one week later my naturalization certificate reached my mailbox.
but for my friend, who applied a week after I did, waited for 5 weeks to receive his passport
maybe the locations where they sent your applications to make a difference.
This puzzled me a great deal: my friend and I applied at the same post office via routine service. All my documents (passport and naturalization certificate) were sent back to me from South Carolina whereas my friends got his documents back from Chicago Ill.

if you paid the $12.75 at the post office to have the passport returned via secure overnight, does it come via USPS or UPS, or Fed Ex.

I just renewed my minor child's US passport and got it last week. Total turnaround time was 3 weeks. This was the regular service i.e not expedited.
