Do applicants get the new e-passport when using expedited service?

Just read that e-passports are not being issued to the general publc till August 2006. Does anyone know whether European countries are imposing e-passport requirements on US citizens like the US is doing to their citizens?

First of all,
I think you deserve a bow for your fight with the monster "USCIS" and the great victory.
Bashar, Congratulations and welcome as a US citizen!

Second; where did you read that the new passport will be issued in August 2006?

thanks

The U.S. Department of States says "The Department plans to issue the first full validity U.S. e-passports to the American public later this year and plans to issue e-passports at all domestic passport agencies by the end of 2006." Expect normal government delay and additional delay due to concerns on RFID security issues. General public issurance of e-passports probably won't happen until 2007.

Thanks.

I read on in an article thru google news. The article stated that e-passports are already being issued to diplomats, government and military officials. It also stated that a pilot program in LA has been successful. Regular e-passports will be issued begining in August 2006 which fits into their timeline of issuing the passports by the end of 2006.

Expediting Regular Service passport submission

Hi,

The passport was submitted using the "routine service" on May 9th. The ETA that the receiving agency gave was 6/21-7/5. Last week something came up, for which we have to travel by 6/21.

The online status indicates that the application information is not available yet. The reps at the passport agency say that unless the information does not become online they cannot do anything about it.

Does any one know if there is a way of expediting this now? Would taking a appointment at the regional passport agency do any good?

Any/All hints suggestions welcome.

Applied on 04/04/06 - local post office

Received it on 05/12/06 (from Charleston office)

In fact when I called them up on 05/06, they didn't
even start processing my application. I requested
them to expediate the request and they
even send me the passport back by 1 day express
mail..That was very nice of them.

Priceless!

Passport fee $97
Received passport in 28 days
Received Naturalization Certificate intact along with passport - Priceless!!

I applied for my passport at an accepting facility in Miami last Wednesday (expedite service), August 9. There is no information online as of yet, but it's probably too early.

However, two things were quite weird: 1) I wasn't placed under oath at any moment. 2) Once the clerk collected the payment and double-checked that the application was correctly filled out, SHE STAPLED THE NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE to the application...

Question: Do they normally staple Naturalization Certificates to the application?

Some friends of mine who have applied at post-offices have told me that they have been placed under oath and that their naturalization certificates have not been stapled to the application.

Some opinions/insights will be appreciated!

did they take the original Nat cert from you?

Yes, they took the original certificate of naturalization from me because they have to when one is a first-time applicant.

What I found strange was that they didn't place me under oath. As far as stapling the certificate of naturalization to the application, I didn't expect them to do that. The certificate of naturalization is a very important document and I thought it should not be stapled. It is also very difficult document to replace as it takes about a year to obtain a new copy from USCIS in case the original is either lost or damaged.

I think it is just an employee procedure; I would not worry too much about the oath.

I agree that the Cert of Nat is important and hard to replace, so is there any workaround? is there a way where we do not have to give up the Cert of Nat, may thru going to the pass port agency directly? When I checked their web site they say they only accept appointment for applicant with travel plans within 2 weeks!!
