Passport and Passport Card delay?

Most airlines allow on line check in these days. The on-line process asks for your citizenship and nationality. Recently, I was able to check in online using my Canadian passport while traveling to Montreal. The airline never specifically asked to see my Canadian passport, they just wanted to see a passport when boarding.
On my trip home I used my US passport of course.
I'll try this again when I travel to Europe in the coming weeks.

Good luck on trying when you travel to Europe. Have a good trip to Europe! :) Get me some European souvenirs if you can! :D

It's usually the same airline.

Yes, it is, but on the outbound flights I have never been asked for my GC. On the return trip they will not let you on the plane without it as the airline will be responsible for flying you out of the US when you arrive without a current Visa or GC and Immigration refuse you entry.

To be fair, my last trip out of the US was in December 2007 so maybe they do now.

We've seen that for U.S. citizens traveling internationally by air, that they must present their valid US passport at the airport... I would not recommend that a US citizen to try to travel by air with just a photocopy of a their passport that they used to check in for their flight. But this might very well work for Canadian citizens and citizens of other countries with valid GC's.
