Hi,

I passed the AOS interview today. But I found there was a problem:

The official gave me a conditional GC only for one year. (We have been married for about 13 months). I remember I will have to send out I751 form 90 days before 2 years since the date of the AOS interview. Does anyone know why he gave me one year conditional GC? After this one-year period, what should I do?

Or the official said I will have to send out I751 form 90 days before the expire of my conditional GC. I do not remember it clearly.

There is no such thing as a 1 year conditional GC. AFAIK.

Sounds like they get an I-551 stamp, which is valid for a year.

It's essentially a temporary green card. You should get your 2year GC in the mail in 30-90 days.

I googel it and got the result:

I-551 Stamp: A red stamp placed in a successful green card applicant’s passport that serves as proof of permanent resident status until the alien receives the actual green card. Until recently, foreign nationals would always get an I-551 stamp when their green card application was approved. Currently, because green cards typically arrive in a week or two, successful applicants only get I-551 stamps if they can convince USCIS that they need it.
