I applied for DV2009. I did not win though :-( got my visa after my interview in 2008

He is not that wrong, if they start DV-2010 the registration period is between beginning of October until first days in December.

No doubt the DV-2010 will be drawn, and the application period will last from
October to December but I asked the precise dates.
Why is it too difficult to say I don't know or keep silent?
Apparently the exact dates are not released yet.

Dont see any value from knowing the exact dates. Be happy that they play the lottery again!

Increase of wining chance?

Dear all,
I seek your advise,
I've submitted my registration for DV 2010 with my wife, as the double registration may conduct directly to the disqualification! Is it possible that my wife submit another entry as Primary entrant and I 'll be the accompanist?? like that we try to boost our chance?
Thanks in advance...

Yes, if both of you are from an eligible country and both of you fulfill the education requirement, you can both submit separate entries and list the other person in there.

Provided that he uses his country of birth as his country of eligibility, the wife does not have to be from an eligible country herself in order to be able to participate since she could claim her husband's country of birth as the country of eligibility.

Many thanks Igmu & The Atheist for the clarification, Indeed we're both from the same eligible country, and she already submitted a separate entry, I hope that we 'LL be lucky!!

Hi everybody:)

My first post on this forum, and...with a question.

I've just applied to DV2010 and received confirmation of a successful entry.

My country of birth (Italy) is on the list of the countries for which one can claim eligibility.

My wife was born in Russia and has a permanent, legal residence in Italy and therefore she can also claim eligibility.

My question is: does she have to file a separate application, or is her entry included with mine?

In other words, if she files a separate application (that would double our chances), would that be considered as a "double-entry" thus dis-qualifying both of us?

Thanks :):):)

Your question is already being addressed by the official DV-2010 instructions. You have read them already, haven't you? :)

10. MAY A HUSBAND AND A WIFE EACH SUBMIT A SEPARATE ENTRY?
Yes, a husband and a wife may each submit one entry if each meets the eligibility requirements. If either is selected, the other is entitled to derivative status.

Dummy me!!!:o

Thank you so much, TheAtheist!:)

Still one little doubt though:

Under "REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY" the instructions state "... First, if you were born in a country whose natives are ineligible but your spouse was born in a country whose natives are eligible; you can claim your spouse’s country of birth, provided both you and your spouse are on the selected entry, are issued visas, and enter the U.S. simultaneously. ..."

That "both you and your spouse are on the selected entry" and the fact that my wife's eligibility is based on her claiming my country of birth for eligibility makes the whole thing not completely clear...

What do you think?

Note that Russia is once again on the list of eligible countries for DV-2010 so your wife does not need to claim your country of birth for eligibility. In fact, she has no choice but to use her own country of birth (Russia), thus this paragraph does not even apply in your case.
