Part-time job on EAD?

Hi there--
I am employed full-time with a company on H1B and just filed for a seventh
year extension. Meanwhile, I got my EAD/AP approved a few weeks back
and was wondering if I could work part-time using my EAD. I talked to my
company folks and they said it's perfectly fine but just wanted to run this
by some folks here. The job I have in mind is completely unrelated to my
IT job, it will probably be in the Services area ( Libraries, Restaurants, Museums whatever ?) and will be only part-time.

Any thoughts?

Vinny.

Do not complicate your case, Hand on till you get your GC. If you have energy and time, do three jobs once you get your GC.

As long as you donot get caught doing odd jobs you are okay but you will be in deep trouble if you get caught. If you are getting a pay check in your IT job hang on for extra money.

if only one had the energy to do 3 jobs after waiting for 3 years
in the 485 queue ( 4 years in labor +140), that would be awesome
but I am not willing to wait to get my hair grayed.
I am not smuggling drugs or anything to do an odd job, I am just
trying to do something outside the mainstream IT job which has
given me no raises for the last 3 years obviously thanks again to
this GC process.
Once again, I pose the question:
Is it legal/okay to do a part-time job ( prety much minimum wage )
outside your field on EAD and do a full-time on H1B?

yes and no. you can do a part time job on EAD, but you will lose your H-1 status. If you are willing to leave h-1b and work full time on EAD in your day job and silently do the other job then it should be ok.
But at least until you are adjudicated, it is better to be on the similar job full time.
