Part-time H1B visa

Friends,

I have a question about working part-time on H-1B visa. Can an employer sponsor for part-time H-1B visa? Is there any particular field or area/kind of work in which part-time sponsorship is not allowed? If the H-1B visa is approved and the employee starts working, can the employer withhold paying the salary to the employee? Or can the employer pay less than the agreed salary to the employee because the amount of work is less in some months?

Also, is there any good software which allows one to do immigration visa forms himself instead of hiring an attorney and paying high fees?

Yes, an employer can sponsor for H1 in any of the speciality field where full time is possible. Employer should pay the salary promised in the contract, unless the contract stipulates that employee will be paid only for the hours worked or something similar.

Part-time H1B

Thanks for your response. But I couldn't understand it clearly. Do you mean to say that some one can get a part-time H1B in a field in which one can work full time. My wife wants to work part-time as a law clerk on H1B? Can she do it?

Also, the prevailing wages for a full time law clerk in state of Michigan (where my wife wants to work) is $36000 per year. So, can she work part-time on a salary of $18000 per year? Or can she work on the basis of hours? Say her H1B contract says that she will be paid $20 per hour and doesn't mention the total amount she has to paid per year. It depends on the number of hours worked.
